PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

Siouxland Regional Transportation Planning Association (SRTPA) proposed FY 2017 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendments

The SRTPA Policy Board will be voting on the following TIP amendments at the upcoming meeting on May 25, 2017:

  1.  Siouxland Regional Transit System Bus #7260 Light Duty Bus replacement needs to be programmed to Bus #7455 for a total cost of $90,000 with $76,500 Federal participation (5339) in FY 2017.
  2.  Siouxland Regional Transit System Bus #7470 Light Duty Bus replacement needs to be programmed to Bus #7150 for a total cost of $90,000 with $76,500 Federal participation (5339) in FY 2017.
  3.   Siouxland Regional Transit System Bus #7512 Light Duty Bus replacement needs to be programmed to Bus #7099 for a total cost of $90,000 with $76,500 Federal participation (5339) in FY 2017.
  4. Siouxland Regional Transit System Bus #7523 Light Duty Bus Replacement needs to be programmed to Bus #7098 for a total cost of $90,000 with $76,500 Federal participation (5339) in FY 2017.

The meeting will be held at 9:30 am at SIMPCO, 1122 Pierce Street, Sioux City.   The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) Siouxland Regional Transportation Planning Association (SRTPA) Policy Board meetings are open to all individuals.  Any person with special needs requiring a reasonable accommodation to participate in a Policy Board meeting should contact the SIMPCO office at 712-279-6286 at least two (2) business days prior to the Policy Board meeting.

SIMPCO MPO 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan  Amendments

The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is in the process of amending the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan with approval scheduled for July 13, 2017.  The Long Range Transportation Plan is a guiding document of information on existing transportation related systems and to project future needs based on locally derived goals, and objectives to support growth in the region. The amendments includes:

  1. Military Road from Riverside Blvd to Big Sioux River in Sioux City need to be programmed for a total estimated cost of $5,800,000 with $1,325,000 in Federal participation in FY 2018.

  2. South Lewis Blvd from Singing Hills to city limits in Sioux City needs to be programmed for a total estimated cost of $2,769,000 with $1,930,000 in Federal participation in FY 2030 – 2040 time range.

  3. Tables B.2: Population and Housing Summary by Jurisdiction and Year as Distributed into the Model and Table B.3: Employment Summary by Jurisdiction and Year as Distributed into the Model need to be updated to reflected updated projections in the Transportation Model.

  4. Map 5.7:  Level of Service: 2040 Forecast Year needs to be updated to reflect changes in level of service road in forecast year 2040

The proposed amendments are now available for public comment.  There will be a Public Input meeting to review the amendments on June 14, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at SIMPCO: 1122 Pierce Street, Sioux City, IA 51105.  The public is invited to come at their convenience to the public input meeting to comment on the proposed amendments.  The 2040 LRTP can also viewed at SIMPCO or on the SIMPCO website at:  http://www.simpco.org/Transportation/LongRangeTransportationPlans.aspx

The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is in the process of developing the Draft FY 2018 – 2021 Transportation Improvement Program with approval scheduled for July 13, 2017. The TIP is a four year listing of transportation projects which are to be funded using Federal transportation dollars; this includes interstate, highway and street improvements as well as trails and transit improvements. The Draft FY 2018 - 2021 TIP is now available for public comment.  The document can be viewed at SIMPCO: 1122 Pierce Street, Sioux City, IA 51105 or on the SIMPCO website at: http://www.simpco.org/Transportation/TransportationImprovementPlan.aspx

In addition, copies of the Draft FY 2018 - 2021 TIP will be available for viewing at the following city halls and county courthouses:  City of Sioux City, City of Sergeant Bluff, City of Dakota City, City of South Sioux City, and City of North Sioux City, Dakota Dunes Welcome Center, Plymouth County, Union County and Woodbury County.


SIMPCO staff will be holding a Public Input Meeting as an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the Draft FY 2018 - 2021 TIP on June 14, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the SIMPCO offices at 1122 Pierce Street, Sioux City, Iowa 51105
