Highway 20 Study Update

In May 2018, SIMPCO was awarded U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) funding to conduct the U.S. Highway 20 Corridor Economic Development Study.  The purpose of the study is to develop collaborative strategies to:
  1.  Enhance the region’s prosperity through the promotion of the U.S. Highway 20 corridor and marketing of the communities on a regional level.
  2. Promote commerce and industry along the corridor and increase the capacity of the region to promote job creation and private investment in the regional economy.
  3. Inform community stakeholders of the economic development strengths, potential, opportunities and assessment of specific development sites and future projects for consideration.
  4. Facilitate collaboration between multiple dedicated stakeholders by identifying economic development partners, providing opportunities to network and facilitating private-public partnerships.

SIMPCO has hosted two of three study workshops, the first being on May 23, 2018, in Correctionville and the second on July 18, 2018, in Moville.  The final workshop will be held on September 26, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at the Lohff-Schumann Memorial Community Center in Holstein.  The anticipated completion date of the plan will be in mid-December.  For more information or how to get involved in the process, please contact Michelle Bostinelos.
