Last week, SIMPCO and SRTS staff hosted the Transportation Advisory Group (TAG) meeting at the MLK Jr. Transportation Center, where Sioux City Transit introduced its new cashless fare system.
TAG serves as the advisory committee responsible for developing the Passenger Transportation Plan (PTP)—a key document for the SIMPCO MPO and SRTPA. The TAG and PTP aim to improve mobility for people with disabilities, low-income populations, and the elderly by linking health and human services, private transportation providers, and public transit.
The new cashless fare system supports these goals by offering riders more flexibility, helping drivers handle less cash, and ensuring accurate fare collection. It’s designed to make transit easier, safer, and more efficient for everyone.
Great job, Sioux City Transit, for moving local transportation forward!
