Jenny joined SIMPCO in 2022 as the Housing Manager. She oversees housing and program administration, working with contractors, lenders, communities, and applicants for the Owner-Occupied Repair/Rehab programs. Jenny ensures smooth project coordination, compliance with regulations, and supports homeowners throughout the process. Her dedication and proactive problem-solving make her an invaluable asset to SIMPCO and the communities she serves.
1) What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Seeing the impact our work makes on people's lives.
2) What is your favorite work-related event/conference/program you have attended and why?
The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) Housing Conference. It is where all of the Iowa Housing minds come together to network and learn from each other.
3) What is your favorite hobby, activity or creative outlet?
I love to read. Reading while I am traveling is even better!
4) What destination do you want to travel to and why?
Greece. I love the beach and their beaches look beautiful! There is also a pink beach there that I would love to see. Also, I would love to experience the food, culture and history.
5) If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want to take with you?

Congratulations to the Village of Emerson!
Congratulations to the Village of Emerson for receiving an impressive grant of $435,000 from
the Nebraska Economic Development (DED) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. This substantial financial support will be utilized to implement a comprehensive faรงade improvement project within the municipal limits of the village. The project aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of the buildings, thereby revitalizing the community's appearance and potentially boosting local economic activity. By upgrading the exteriors of various structures, the initiative seeks to attract more visitors and businesses, fostering a vibrant and welcoming environment for both residents and newcomers.

IDNR Dam Mitigation Grant - The Iowa Legislature appropriated funds for fiscal year 2025 for the development of dam mitigation and water trail projects. A portion the funds ($300,000 for this fiscal year) are available competitively for dam mitigation cost-share grants. Dam owners and other eligible entities are encouraged to apply for cost-share assistance for projects that reduce recreational hazards and enhance aquatic species connectivity. IDNR Water Trail Enhancement Grants โ ($500,000) are available competitively for water trail enhancement cost-share grants. Local divisions of Iowa government are encouraged to apply for cost-share assistance for infrastructure or infrastructure improvements along state designated water trails or water trails on track for state designation (Eligible: local governments). National Scenic Byways Program - This grant opportunity will result in the award of up to $26.95 million of FY 2023 and FY 2024 funds in grants to States and federally recognized Tribes to implement eligible projects on highways designated as National Scenic Byways, All-American Roads (collectively America's Bywaysยฎ), State scenic byways, or Indian Tribe scenic byways; and plan, design, and develop a State or Indian Tribe scenic byway program. FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant - The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. IRA Iowa Tree Planting Grant - Provides reimbursable grants to purchase trees, mulch, tree staking/protection and supplemental watering by contractor or city staff. The grant is a two-year program allowing for planting to take place in the spring and fall of 2025 and 2026. USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) โ Grants for investment in private businesses and agricultural producers to make their enterprises more energy efficient or to install renewable systems. With the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, this program has been improved and better funded, so now is the time to apply.
