Transit Mechanic

Siouxland Regional Transit System (SRTS) is seeking an experienced full-time mechanic to maintain, diagnose and repair problems with fleet, maintenance, and the operation of equipment including the handling of service calls and facility emergencies in our new building. Perform preventative maintenance, as scheduled, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, engine, mechanical, brake, and associated systems. Develop efficient storage, inventory, and ordering levels for parts, supplies, and items associated with the maintenance of the fleet and equipment. Complete required paperwork utilizing the software, Microsoft Suite, and documents associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Establish a process for specifications and technical information to be readily available on buses, vans, and equipment for diagnostic testing, repair, labor, and training. Assist the management team with the building and maintenance budget and follow regulatory requirements from the local, state, and federal agencies. Must hold a Class C CDL with Passenger Endorsement and become a Third-Party CDL Tester to facilitate the required training and documentation for drivers. At least two years of experience working in a maintenance service shop with basic computer skills. Pre-employment background, drug testing, and DOT physical are required.
