SRTS/SIMPCO BUILD Grant Annoucement

Siouxland Regional Transit System (SRTS) and Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) have been awarded $7,000,000 in funding through the U.S. DOT Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program to design and construct a new joint use facility.  This facility will include bus maintenance areas, indoor bus storage, a bus wash, driver training area, and office space. Construction of the project is anticipated in 2021.   SRTS and SIMPCO are currently exploring site options for the new facility including the possibility of locating with the Iowa DOT at their proposed facility at the northeast corner of the U.S Highway 75/20 interchange in Woodbury County.

Over 850 applicants across the nation applied to receive part of the $1.5 billion in discretionary funding from the U.S. DOT.  The SRTS/SIMPCO joint use facility was one of 91 projects that received funding.  Please read more about the BUILD grant here.

SRTS and SIMPCO will provide updates on the new joint-use facility as the project progresses.

Thank you for all your continued support to SRTS and SIMPCO!
