Staff Spotlight – Ellen Dirks

We have an amazing group of staff members at SIMPCO and we want to make sure you all get to know them! Say “Hello” to November’s Staff Spotlight, Ellen Dirks. Ellen serves as the Staff Accountant II for SIMPCO.

Q: Who inspires you?
A: I would say that my parents have inspired me. They instilled good values and a work ethic that I know have served me well.

Q: Where’s your favorite place in the world?
A: A beautiful beach

Q: What are you passionate about?
A: My faith, family and work

Q: What projects are you working on right now?
A: Along with my daily duties, I am exploring more opportunities to train in our accounting system so that we can utilize all of its potentials.

Q: What do you like best about working for SIMPCO?
A: I think the best thing about working for SIMPCO is the friendly nature of the staff and that management is very open and accessible.

Q: Motto or Personal Mantra?
A: Where there’s a will there’s a way!

Q: What are you most proud of?
A:  I am probably most proud that I raised my three children on my own for the most part. I relocated back to Sioux City in 2001 and found a job, bought a house, and ran them to school, sporting, and extra-curricular events, doctor appointments, etc. I didn’t have time to get overwhelmed. This December, my daughters will graduate with their Masters from Simpson College and my son will graduate from the Briar Cliff nursing program next May.

Q: What is your favorite pastime/hobby?
A: I enjoy gardening, book club, cooking, and golfing with my husband (which he would like me to do more of).

Thank you to Ellen Dirks for sharing with us!  SIMPCO members are encouraged to reach out to Ellen for any billing-related questions!
