Staff Spotlight – Jacob Heil

Jacob Heil

We have an amazing group of staff members at SIMPCO and we want to make sure you all get to know them! Say “Hello” to December’s Staff Spotlight, Jacob Heil. Jake serves as the Regional Planning Director for SIMPCO.

Q: Who inspires you?
A: There are several people that inspire me to be a better person, work harder, etc. but at the top of my list are my parents, Joe Rogan, and David Goggins.

Q: Where’s your favorite place in the world?
A: My favorite place I have visited would be Hawaii. My favorite place I want to visit is Bora Bora or Australia.

Q: What projects are you working on right now?
A: Some of the few things that I am working on is a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Blencoe, a Sergeant Bluff Trail/Sidewalk map, I am starting Long Range Transportation Plan updates for both the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Siouxland, Community Catalyst grants for Anthon and Mapleton, ongoing Safe Routes to School activities for Lawton, Moville, Sergeant Bluff, and Sioux City Schools, and responding to a few RFPs. It’s a very rapidly changing list, so next week will be a whole new set of tasks to accomplish.

Q: What do you like best about working for SIMPCO?
A: I like the variety of everything I get to work on and how I can be a solution to a member’s problem.

Q: Motto or Personal Mantra?
A: Either, “This is the beginning of anything you want” or “Life’s too short, make the most of it”.

Q: What is your favorite pastime/hobby?
A: I enjoy watching sports (especially tailgating at Iowa State games), playing golf, video games, or just hanging out with my friends.

Thank you to Jacob Heil for sharing with us! SIMPCO members are encouraged to reach out to Jake for any planning needs!
