Community development is the process of building stronger and more resilient communities through an ongoing process of identifying, prioritizing and addressing needs, assets, and investments. Community development activities may support infrastructure, economic development, housing rehabilitation, public services, or the installation of the public facilities or community centers, among other identified needs. In the end, the purpose of community development is to improve the welfare of people and their communities.
The Community Development (CD) Division of SIMPCO provides a variety of services for member communities including planning services, grant writing, and administrative services, research and informational service and other forms of technical assistance. SIMPCO accomplishes this through partnerships with local governments that foster intelligent growth and provide for the current and future needs of the region.
