Nathan Kistner, a regional planner from SIMPCO, volunteered at the Siouxland STEM Festival held in Sioux City on Wednesday. The event drew roughly 450 students from around northwest Iowa, providing them with insights into careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students from 6th to 12th grade visited the 185th Air Refueling Wing, Oracle Aviation, and the Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation, where they engaged with 40 hands-on exhibits and educational sessions.
Nathan felt it was a very positive and fun experience that exposed the students to STEM principles and careers they may not have considered.
